Senior Customer & Distribution Manager – Commercial Insurance (Germany & Austria)

Senior, customer-facing distribution role focused on managing and developing strategic customer and broker relationships within the commercial and industrial insurance market.

This position plays a key role in shaping distribution strategy, driving growth across assigned accounts, and strengthening long-term partnerships within a complex, multinational insurance environment.

The Role

This role sits within a leading international commercial insurance business with a strong presence across Germany and Austria, focused on supporting large and mid-sized corporate clients.

You will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of strategic customers and brokers, using your existing network and market knowledge to develop relationships, identify opportunities, and support sustainable growth. The role operates in close collaboration with underwriting, risk, and other internal teams, combining strategic planning with hands-on relationship management.

You will be supported through onboarding and beyond, working within an agile, professional team aligned to broader business and market objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop strategic customer and broker relationships within the commercial and industrial insurance segment

  • Drive distribution strategy across assigned customers and brokers

  • Identify growth opportunities through market insight, customer needs, and broker performance data

  • Plan and execute customer and broker development activities aligned to business goals

  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to deliver coordinated client solutions

  • Represent a broad portfolio of insurance products and solutions to customers and distribution partners

  • Support strategic planning and execution based on market trends and performance data

  • Maintain accurate customer and broker information within CRM systems

  • Act as a trusted partner to customers, brokers, and internal stakeholders

About You

This role suits an experienced commercial insurance professional with a strong background in distribution, underwriting, or customer management.

You are results-driven, commercially minded, and comfortable operating at a senior level with customers, brokers, and internal teams. You bring a strong network, a strategic mindset, and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to relationship management.

Experience

  • Extensive experience within the commercial or industrial insurance market

  • Strong background in distribution management, underwriting, risk management, or insurance marketing

  • Established network within the broker community and existing customer relationships

  • Good understanding of commercial insurance products, market dynamics, and competitors

  • Technical insurance expertise in at least one major line of business

  • Proven track record in customer development and distribution-focused roles

  • Ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams on a project basis

  • Strong CRM knowledge and structured working approach

  • Fluent German and strong English communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience working in multinational or matrixed insurance organisations

  • Exposure to alternative risk solutions or cross-class insurance offerings

  • Strong strategic planning and portfolio management experience
