The Role
This position sits within a growing digital and technology function supporting an underwriting-led insurance business, delivering modern reporting, analytics, and data solutions.
The role focuses on developing business intelligence, maintaining data pipelines, and supporting strategic decision-making across multiple business functions. You will work closely with underwriting, finance, operations, sales, and technology teams to deliver high-quality reporting, improve data quality, and build scalable data solutions that support business growth.
You will act as a key link between business and technology, combining strong analytical capability with excellent stakeholder engagement to ensure data is transformed into valuable commercial insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver dashboards, reports, and business intelligence solutions
- Build, maintain, and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models
- Design and support Azure Data Factory pipelines and automated data workflows
- Develop Azure Function Apps and Logic Apps to support data integration and automation
- Gather, cleanse, validate, and reconcile data from multiple business systems
- Define and maintain key business and insurance performance indicators
- Work with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Facilitate workshops and gather requirements for new reporting and analytics initiatives
- Investigate data issues, identify root causes, and coordinate resolutions with technical teams
- Support testing, validation, and user acceptance of new reports, dashboards, and data solutions
- Promote data quality, governance, and continuous improvement across reporting processes
About You

Key experience includes:
- 3+ years' experience in a Business Data Analyst or Data Analyst role within the insurance industry
- Strong SQL skills, including writing and optimising complex queries and stored procedures
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure integration services
- Experience developing or supporting Azure Function Apps and Logic Apps
- Strong reporting and dashboard development skills using Qlik or similar BI tools
- Advanced Excel skills and experience analysing large, complex datasets
- Good understanding of commercial insurance, policy administration, premium calculations, and insurance KPIs
- Experience working with relational databases and supporting ETL/ELT processes
- Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, and communication skills
Desirable experience:
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
- Knowledge of Python for automation or data analysis
- Experience with Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or other cloud data platforms
- Exposure to API integrations and JSON/REST data sources
- Experience working within fast-paced digital transformation environments
